A concept is a formal signification of meaning, that is, an abstract representation of a distinctly articulated entity.  A concept is to an idea as a sketch is to an image, a design to a scene, an outline to a thesis, a plan to a projected action, a schema to a process, a blueprint to a construction, a diagram to a system, a street map to a city, a graph to a trend, a floor plan to a building, and a chart to a dependent variable.   The sentence just concluded manifests the complex conceptualization of a simple idea, that the intellect is able accurately to identify and reliably to configure the operative factors of experiential phenomena
